Outhouse Robinson

7th grade art class. My teacher, Bessie Fredericks, asked us to create our own nametags using picture symbols to tell our names. I drew an outhouse (John), a robin (robin) and the sun (son). Bessie was fearsome even when calm. She saw my tag and her face turned Irish flag orange. “Outhouse Robinson? You want people to call you Outhouse Robinson?”

At the time I was stupefied. But now that I’ve had 50 years to think about it, yeah, call me Outhouse Robinson.
